The Nexus Principals
Messrs. Snape, Rousseau and Hancock have exclusively managed the healthcare program for New England Partners,
a diversified private equity firm based in Boston, MA, co-founded by Messrs. Snape and Rousseau in 1996. That
healthcare program has evolved into Nexus Medical Partners. Experienced colleague, Gregory Zaic, with whom we
had worked before, joined in 2004 to complete the Team. The following Principals have day-to-day
responsibility for the investment program at Nexus:

Edwin Snape, PhD. Dr. Snape, co-founder and head of the healthcare practice at
Nexus, has been involved in private equity investing for the past 25 years. He has founded and/or had a
role in the management of nine private equity funds aggregating approximately $400 million. These include
two UK funds, three US funds, two Pacific Rim funds, one ASEAN fund and one corporate fund. He has been
directly responsible for founding or investing in over 30 companies in the medical device/life sciences
sector. He was a founder of The Liposome Company. He has co-invested with most of the leading venture
capital and private equity firms in the US and the UK and has established an extensive network of
contacts in the entrepreneurial, investment banking, legal and accounting communities. Prior to his
investment career, Dr. Snape authored numerous technical papers and holds several patents in the advanced
materials field. He holds B.S. and PhD degrees from the University of Leeds, England.

John F. Rousseau, Jr. As a co-founder of Nexus, Mr. Rousseau has worked
closely with Dr. Snape for ten years, investing in healthcare companies spanning medical devices,
biotechnology, diagnostics, medical instruments and healthcare services, including Harvard Bioscience
(drug discovery instruments), Minrad International (image guidance and specialty pharmaceuticals), and
Santarus (proprietary products for gastrointestinal diseases). Prior to his business career, Mr.
Rousseau practiced law for fifteen years and was a Senior Partner at the Boston-based law firm of Hale
and Dorr. He holds a B.A. from Amherst College, and a J.D. from Columbia Law School.

Thomas E. Hancock Mr. Hancock has over fourteen years experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
and equity capital markets. At Nexus he has been responsible for several investments, including A&G
Pharmaceuticals, Stheno Corporation and Panacos Pharmaceuticals. Prior to joining Nexus, he was a Senior
Equity Analyst and Managing Director at US Bancorp Piper Jaffray, covering both the biopharmaceutical and
drug discovery tools markets. Previously, he worked in the biopharmaceutical industry at both Genentech,
Inc. and COR Therapeutics, Inc. in a number of roles including business development and project management. Mr. Hancock has a BS in Molecular Biology and an MBA from UC Berkeley.

Gregory F. Zaic Mr. Zaic has over 20 years of venture capital investment experience, focused on
companies in the medical device/life sciences area. He has had a role in the management of six venture
capital funds, and has served on numerous boards of directors of both public and private companies. Prior to
joining Nexus, Mr. Zaic was a general partner of Prince Ventures, an independent, medically focused, venture
capital partnership. At Prince, he was responsible for successful investments in Xylos Corporation
(biosynthetic materials) and PerSeptive Biosystems (bioseparations products). Prior to Prince Ventures, Mr.
Zaic was Vice President and Special Limited Partner of the Vista Group where he worked closely with Ed Snape,
leader of Vista's health care practice. Before Vista, Mr. Zaic ran the Special Products division for Baxter
Laboratories. Mr. Zaic received a B.S. degree in aerospace and mechanical engineering from Princeton
University, an M.S. in mechanical engineering and an M.S. in management (Sloan School of Management) both
from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
